Hello, my name is Einar and this is my review of the 6b28 helmet-replica from Grey shop.
First things first, you are probably wondering: “where is Xplizzit?” Don’t worry, I am just the secondary writer and the closest thing we’ve got to a proofreader at AirsoftArticles.
It’s a replica of helmets currently in use by the VDV of the Russian armed forces. Made out of fiberglass, it’s fitted with straps and a suspension system that is fastened by panheaded machine screws and a tee nut. A very minor issue is the fact that the screws are somewhat poorly painted – however this is a non issue for those who will wear it with a cover
The helmet itself is a training helmet from the russian army, and weighs about 800 grams, so close to the real deal in that regard.
I bought this helmet back in November of last year, and so I’ve got to use it quite a bit. I was very excited when I got it, but one thing I still have yet to properly master are the helmet straps. They always seem to do their own thing, and requires frequent adjustment for comfort.
A big plus with the helmet (in regards to comfort) is the suspension system, the helmet feels great wearing and is a good fit when when the straps are properly fitted.
There is also a small piece of leather covering the metal buckle so it doesn’t chafe your cheeks and/or make you cold during winter. It shouldn’t anyway, because if you are running a russian kit, chances are high that you are already wearing a balaclava.
The price of the helmet is 66€ which I myself think is somewhere between “probably a fair price” and “maybe a tad to expensive”. The reasoning behind this is because of the fact that it is an actual issued item (as in: soldiers have actually used it) and the quality of the fiberglass. However, because of the bad strap solution, I think it could be a couple of euros cheaper.
The shipping took 14 days, as I opted for the cheaper shipping method, which was within the timeframe that was promised.
I give this item a score of 7/10.
(cover for helmet is currently in the mail. Will update you when I get it)
